Latex balloons are made from the sap of the rubber tree ( Hevea brasiliensis ). If you cut a notch in the tree, a milky liquid immediately starts to drip out; you could almost say that the tree can be "milked". That's why it's also called the weeping tree. This doesn't harm the tree, by the way. If you want to know more about how balloons are made, just click here ! Balloons rot naturally , similar to a leaf falling from a tree. It takes a maximum of 2 years for a balloon to completely dissolve (with plastic it takes about 400 years).

The balloon is made from natural rubber, filled with helium, and rises into the sky until it bursts at a height of around 8 kilometers into fine, thin strips that then slide to the ground. According to statistics, a single balloon lands on the ground in an area of โโaround 25 kmยฒ. This small amount rots and returns to nature. You can download a detailed study on the biodegradability of balloons here ! This means that the balloon cannot harm nature at all because it comes from nature. Just like any biodegradable product. The balloon is biodegradable! If an animal eats a leaf, it doesn't die.
